When the read is done, do a quick test by programming in a few frequencies with CPS. Once again, I’ve found it easier to read from the radio before getting to work writing my codeplug. This seems to be true even if the CPS version matches the F/W version. You cannot just start creating a new codeplug or modifying an existing codeplug that someone else gave you and upload it to the radio. This will download the settings and configuration to CPS. To simplify your life, check both checkboxes (Digital Contact List and Other Data). That being said, you can see by now the CPS software is far from being intuitive.Īfter connecting to your radio for the first time, first READ from the radio.

I just remembered having to try a bunch of things and click a bunch of buttons before I was finally able to create a working codeplug that the radio accepts.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong on this. Mine came shipped with F/W 1.12, and I had to update the F/W to 1.13 and get CPS 1.13 before I was able to create working codeplugs. If I recall correctly, 1.12 has a serious bug that doesn’t let you save contact information (or something to that effect). Likewise, the codeplug you create must match the radio’s F/W, or CPS will refuse to send the codeplug to your radio.Įvery time you upgrade your CPS software, you will need to update your F/W and codeplug, too. Your CPS software will need to match your radio’s firmware (F/W) version.
